Hot Promising Companies To Watch In Right Now

There has been a great deal of concern about the United States suffering from a "lost generation" as Japan has now for several. For investors in oil, this has certainly not been the case: A recent article in The Wall Street Journal noted that oil has risen 310% (Brent Crude) over the last decade. The future looks equally promising for investments in the sector such as ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP), Suncor Energy (NYSE: SU), Americas Petrogas (BOE.V), and Octagon 88 (OTCBB: OCTX).

The exchange traded fund for oil, United States Oil (NYSE: USO), is up more than 12% for the last quarter. Part of the rise of United States Oil in recent market action has been due to the "Syria Premium." But there are many aspects to oil that has it climbing in price as other commodities fall, as noted by The Wall Street Journal piece.

Advisors' Opinion:

Jim Powell: I like the exchange-traded funds. I really think the iShares Mexico Fund (EWW)—EWW is a way for most Americans to go. If you have specialized knowledge of Mexico, and you know companies that you wish to invest in, you certainly can. There are plenty of them, but I recommend a fund.

A broad-based investment into the Mexican economy either through the iShares MSCI Mexico Investable Market Index (NYSE: EWW) or the Mexico Fund (NYSE: MXF) -- a favorite of StreetAuthority analyst Amy Calistri -- are good ways to establish a position. These funds not only have exposure to the manufacturing sector, but also to energy, health care and media -- sectors that are benefiting from political reforms and a growing Mexican middle class. The Mexico Fund has a powerful incentive for investors as well in the form of a hefty 10% dividend.

Hot Promising Companies To Watch In Right Now: Lennar Corp.(LEN)

The third largest U.S. homebuilder by revenue reported exceptional Q3 results, as its earnings more than quadrupled, primarily as a result of an increase in new-home demand. The reported net income of 40c was well ahead of last year's 11c, and the forecasted 28c.

LEN's contract backlog, which is an indicator of future sales, rose by a whopping 79% on a YoY basis. Its average selling price of delivered homes also increased to $258,000 from last year's $247,000.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By John Maxfield]

One would have assumed that homebuilders' stocks would have been hammered, as they were last week. Yet, precisely the opposite has occurred. D.R. Horton (NYSE: DHI  ) is up by 8%,PulteGroup (NYSE: PHM  ) by 7.5%, and Lennar (NYSE: LEN  ) by 8.2%.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Those would be PulteGroup (PHM), which has gained 4% to $16.00, DR Horton (DHI), which has risen 3.9% to $18.47, and Lennar (LEN), which has advanced 4% to $32.88. Only Garmin (GRMN) has had a better day.

Advisors' Opinion:

We believe Anadarko Petroleum offers investors a better-than-average portfolio with attractive high-potential deepwater program and solid onshore assets, particularly the dominant position in the Niobrara and an exciting position in the emerging Delaware Basin. When you also consider the track record of solid deep water exploration success, the willingness to monetize assets, the large discovery in Mozambique and the $10-billion interest in GPM it is easy to understand investor enthusiasm. When we contrastAnadarko Petroleum’s delivery in comparison to several of its better positioned peers we find better value elsewhere in the group. We believe Continental Resources (CLR), EOG Resources (EOG) and Noble Energy (NBL) are all likely to grow twice as fast as Anadarko Petroleum yet there is no appreciable premium in any of those shares. Debt-adjusted cash-flow multiples using 2015 estimates are 7.6x, 6.1x and 7.2x for the peers Continental Resources, EOG Resources, and Noble Energy, respectively, as compared toAnadarko Petroleum’s 7.3x.
