ARCP has a shorter trading history than some of its peers, such as Realty Income (O) and National Retail Properties (NNN), which largely explains why its yield is higher. As a relatively new REIT, ARCP stock is largely unfollowed by investors. But once its merger with Cole Properties (COLE) is completed, ARCP will be the largest trip-net REIT by market cap and total square footage, and it will no longer be flying under Wall Street radar.

During this past week joint monthly web chat for subscribers of The Energy Strategistand MLP Profits, we received several questions about Vanguard Natural Resources (Nasdaq: VNR). So let get to know this energy income play a little better.

Oil and natural gas producer Vanguard Natural Resources (NASDAQ: VNR ) likes to go against the grain. While most of its peers have been focused on acquiring or developing oil-rich assets, Vanguard has been shopping in the clearance isle and stocking up on natural gas. It's a move that could pay off handsomely in a couple of years as the supply and demand balance for natural gas begins to shift.

Two-thirds of the reserves are located in the midcontinent, which are well-known for holding great MLP-type assets that have long life and low decline. Peers like LINN Energy (NASDAQ: LINE ) and Vanguard Natural Resources (NASDAQ: VNR ) each has a substantial presence in the midcontinent region. Eagle Rock's reserves there have a heavy natural gas component; gas is 64% of these reserves. However, Eagle Rock has an exciting oil play in the region, which I'll get to in a moment.

If you're looking for income investments, then it's awfully hard to argue with the massive distribution payments from LINN Energy (NASDAQ: LINE ) (NASDAQ: LNCO ) , Breitburn Energy Partners (NASDAQ: BBEP ) , and Vanguard Natural Resources (NASDAQ: VNR ) . Thing is, though, income investments need both a decent yield and a level of certainty that it will keep that distribution going for many years to come. Other than being high-yielding investments, they are also all master limited partnerships, which means you need to look beyond just the operations to see how these companies will stand the test of time.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Muhammad Bazil]
Windstream has the highest debt/equity ratio of all direct competitors, as well as from the industry. Companies like Verizon (VZ) and CenturyLink (CTL), have a debt to equity ratio which is slightly above the industry average of 0.92, while AT&T (T) has a debt/equity ratio of 0.88, which is lower than the industry average. A debt/equity ratio demonstrates how many times a company's long-term debt exceeds its equity. A higher proportion of debt compared to equity leads to higher volatility in earnings and increases the probability that a company may default on debt due to higher financial leverage. Given that Windstream has been very acquisitive over the past few years, the financial risk is fairly explained by the company's inability to increase its profits through debt financing. However, the ratio is extremely high.

Glen F. Post III, the CEO and president of CenturyLink, had the following to say about the company’s quarterly results:
“Overall, we continue to perform well with particular strength in our Business segment where sustained demand for high-bandwidth services and solid sales momentum continue to drive strong results.Despite this overall solid operating performance in the third quarter, there was a special item which significantly impacted ourfinancial resultsfor the quarter. We were required, under GAAP, to recognize a non-cash $1.1 billion impairment to the goodwill assigned to our Data Hosting segment. While we continue to be optimistic and encouraged about the future growth potential and value of our Data Hosting business, we are not currently achieving the forecasted growth and cash flows we originally projected. As part of our accounting valuation process, past performance was a factor in the development of growth projections for our Data Hosting business in future periods.”
No Mention of Dividend

One solution is to pick your best one or two ideas in each industry. As an example, if you think that natural gas is poised to keep rebounding, then low-cost producer Ultra Petroleum (NYSE: UPL ) is arguably the most likely to produce the greatest profits from the space. Similarly, with gold-mining stocks, Yamana Gold (NYSE: AUY ) emerges with the most attractive combination of low costs, growth potential, and balance-sheet strength.
- [By Hebba Investments]
Therefore the situation is still very bullish for investors in physical gold and the gold ETFs (GLD, CEF, and PHYS). Investors interested in leveraging this situation into higher potential profits may also consider buying gold miners such as Randgold (GOLD), Goldcorp (GG), Yamana Gold (AUY), and any of the other gold miners. Finally, those willing to shoulder much larger risks may consider some of the exploration and micro-cap companies that offer significant profits at a high risk such as Chesapeake Gold (CHPGF.PK), Pretium Resources (PVG), Western Copper (WRN), or any other of the junior exploration companies. Though investors should keep in mind that gold mining companies and explorers do not always rise with a rising gold price - do your research before you invest in the miners.
- [By Jonathan Yates]
That is very bullish for companies in the gold sector such as Barrick Gold (NYSE: ABX), Goldcorp (NYSE: GG), Wishbone Gold (OTC: WISHY) and Yamana Gold (NYSE: AUY).
